Some good news for 2022 – we have an extra bank holiday (a 9th bank holiday) to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This will happen in 2022 and was announced on the 12th November 2021. We will have a four-day Bank Holiday weekend in June 2022, to celebrate 70 years of the Queen’s reign. There will be a big programme of public events and displays.
To this end, the May bank holiday weekend will be moved to Thursday 2nd June, and an additional Bank Holiday on Friday 3rd June will allow us a four-day weekend to celebrate this event. It is the first time any British monarch has reached this milestone.
