Criminal background checking - just part of a robust recruitment process

I frequently get asked questions about background checks - CRB and the like.  The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) was formed in December 2012 to provide employers with a means of ‘making safer recruitment decisions and preventing unsuitable people working with vulnerable groups, including children’.  The DBS combined the previous agencies of the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) and has streamlined the services.
